Travel Agent for Panchmarhi, India Tour

Nestled in the Satpura ranges, at an altitude of 1,100m, Panchmarhi is one of the most beautiful hill stations in central India. The place is very attractive and relaxing, with peace, seclusion and a quiet unobtrusive beauty as its prime attractions. Nature, here, expresses itself in numerous enchanting ways. Formed of red sandstone, the valley, ravines and the maze of gorges, add colour to this tranquil hill station.

Some of the important tourist sites in Panchmarhi are:

To the south of the bus stand, beyond the Cantonment, are the Pandav Caves. Numbering five in all, these rock cut caves are about 1000 years old. According to a legend, these caves were the residing place of Pandavas, during their twelve-year exile. Buddhists monks are also, believed to have taken shelter, in these caves during the first century BC. Panchmarhi derives its name from these caves, which have now been declared as protected monuments.

Priyadarshini Point or the Forsyth Point as it was earlier called, since from here Captain Forsyth had the first view of this beautiful land. The point offers a commanding view of the town and the region.

Bison Lodge was the first forest lodge, to be built in Panchmarhi by Captain Forsyth in 1862. Today, the lodge has been converted into a museum. The museum covers the history of the area, and the flora and fauna of the Satpura region. A film on wildlife is shown in the open air theatre here in the evenings

One of the most accessible, of the several waterfalls in the district, the Jamuna Prapat provides drinking water to Panchmarhi. The bathing pools above the fall are a major source of attraction.

Handi Khoh is one of the most impressive ravines of Panchmarhi having steep sides and a 300 feet high precipice. You can have a good view of this ravine from Priyadarshini Point.

Moving along the way, to the Pandav caves is a small natural bathing pool, called Apsara Vihar. This shallow pool, which is easily accessible from Jai Stambh, is an ideal picnic spot especially for the children.

For the adventurous types, there is Rajat Prapat - ‘the big fall’, which is over 110 meters high. The fall is merely a ten-minute walk from the Apsara Vihar.

Jalwataran is one of the most attractive falls in Panchmarhi. You will have to cover a strenuous trek of four kilometres, before reaching the base of the first cascade of the waterfall.

Taking a trek of about forty-five minutes, to the north of the bazaar past the ancient rock shelters, you reach Jata Shanker, a sacred cave under a mass of loose boulders. The Jambu Dwip stream has its source here. The cave derives its name from the shape of the Siva lingam inside the cave, which bears the likeness to the matted locks of Lord.

The Catholic Church and the Christ Church are the two architectural marvels worth visiting in Panchmarhi. Shivaratri Mela is one of the biggest events, held in Panchmarhi.
