The 400 m ascent from the fashionable Mall to the historical Gun Hill is one with bated breath because of the cable car, as much as for the magnificent views of the great Himalayan peaks and bird’s eye view of Mussoorie and its environs. The Gun Hill is now dotted with mock ornate photo studios, welcoming chai (tea) shops and some telescope shops. During peak summer season, cable cars swing between the Mall and Gun Hill more than 100 times a day.

The famous Surkhanda Devi Temple is located on a peak at 10,000 feet and demands a steep two-km climb. According to a legend, the temple was built on the site where the head of Lord Shiva’s consort fell, after it was chopped off to stop Shiva’s terrifying dance of death that was shaking the universe to the core.
A trek to Nag Tibba is a tiring but exhilarating experience, for it winds through thick pine forests, mountain brooks and slate-roofed villages. The nearest accommodation is a forest rest house at Deolsari, about five hours of trekking below Nag Tibba.
The Kempty Falls are the biggest attraction of Mussoorie. The highest fall is over 40 feet and splits into five beautiful and distinct cascades.
Chamba-the home of apples lies 31 km from Dhanaulti. It is a delightful place for a quiet relaxing break, with fluffy clouds entering through the widows and floating out of the door.
