The Charminar is a square structure situated in the heart of Hyderabad. It has four minarets that are 100 feet high and two galleries that lie one over the other. A thriving market surrounds it and numerous small decorative arches are arranged over the entire edifice.
The Salar Jung Museum houses the Nawab of Hyderabad’s collection of European art, glass and Chinese jade, ivory, porcelain, bronzes, illuminated manuscripts and jewelled weapons, including the Empress Noor Jehan’s bejewelled dagger and the Nawab’s own diamond-encrusted sword.
The Hussain Sagar Lake is a large artificial lake built in 1550. A huge statue of the Lord Buddha is located in the middle of this lake.
State Central Library is considered one of the best among the Indian manuscript libraries. It was established by Nawab Imad-ul-Mulk, Director of Public Institutions in Nizam’s Government, in 1891.

Tirupati is one of the most famous shrines in the country where an uninterrupted worship of the Lord Venkateswara has been carried out for over thirteen centuries. Nagarjunsagar is perhaps India’s first island-museum. The main attractions here are the Simhala Vihara (monastery for Ceylonese monks) and a Mahastupa (believed to contain some corporal relics of Lord Buddha).
